Synopsis
Set during World War II and based on a true story during the siege of the Russian city of Stalingrad, the wartime epic follows a Russian officer Danilov (Joseph Fiennes) attached to the press/propaganda unit and another Russian soldier Vassili Zaitsev (Jude Law). Vassili becomes a successful sniper and is created into a hero by Danilov. They become friends but the friendship is threatened by Tania (Rachel Weisz), a Russian soldier. Meanwhile the Germans realising Vassili is a threat bring in their own expert marksman Major Konig (Ed Harris) and the war becomes a much more personal struggle for victory between the two snipers and shapes the outcome of the battle for Stalingrad.
