Synopsis

Director Guy Maddin's DRACULA: PAGES FROM A VIRGIN'S DIARY was first commissioned by CBC for airing on its performing arts series, 'Opening Night' in February 2002. A mesmerising synthesis of avant-garde film and breathtaking choreography, this lushly gothic piece is based on the acclaimed full-length ballet, 'Dracula', choreographer Mark Godden for Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Two time winner of the US National Society of Critics' Award, Guy Maddin shot the film in black and white, then posted on video, adding shocking splashes of colour. The film has been produced by Vonnie Von Helmont.
