Synopsis

French filmmaker Jacques Demy set this masterpiece in the picturesque town of Rochefort. A story that takes place over one summer weekend, the film is an exploration of various individuals, who are all looking for love and happiness.

The characters involved are: dance and music teacher twins Delphine and Solange Garnier (real life siblings Deneuve and Dorleac), their cafe-proprietor mother, Yvonne (Danielle Darrieux), a music-shop owner Simon Dame (Michel Piccoli), his friend an American composer Andy Miller (Gene Kelly), navy officer and artist Maxence (Jacques Perrin) and a couple of visiting carnival performers Etienne and Bill (Chakiris and Grover Dale).
