Synopsis
When shy and sweet Deborah Woodruff (Samantha Morton) meets the beguiling Ian Curtis (Sam Riley) it's love at first sight. Married and working at the local job centre, Ian pursues his musical ambitions and with a few friends, puts together a new revolutionary band. Soon, Ian is the toast of the burgeoning Manchester music scene as the electric lead singer of Joy Division while Deborah stays at home with their daughter, unaware of how popular her husband has become. Torn between his music, his mistress Annik (ALEXANDRA MARIA LARA) and his homeward responsibilities, Ian and Deborah drift apart.
Together with Riley, Joe Anderson as Peter 'Hooky' Hook, James Anthony Pearson as Bernard Sumner, Harry Treadaway as drummer Stephen Morris and Toby Kebbell as no-nonsense manager Rob Gretton bring the rest of the iconic band, Joy Division to the screen.
