Synopsis

CHILDREN UNDERGROUND documents the plight of the homeless children living in the subway tunnels of Bucharest, Romania. When the Romanian government banned contraception during the period 1965 to 1989 many children were born to impoverished families who could not afford to raise their children and so abandoned them to a life on the streets. The movie follows the daily struggle the children are faced with having to survive through daily routines which include fighting with packs of other street kids, begging for food, searching for water, and getting high on the fumes of toxic paint.
