Synopsis

From the makers of Wallace and Gromit, CHICKEN RUN - an animated adventure comedy - is the story of a group of chickens who make a desperate bid for freedom before they can be fried, filleted or fricasseed. Leading the flock are a British chicken named Ginger and an all-American rooster named Rocky. Together they prove that chickens are anything but, as they engage in a daring and spectacular escape.

The cast features the voices of Mel Gibson (Rocky), Julia Sawalha (Ginger), Imelda Staunton (Bunty), Jane Horrocks (Babs), Miranda Richardson (Mrs Tweedy) and more. The screenplay, by Karey Kirkpatrick and Jack Rosenthal, is based on an original story by Nick Park and Peter Lord.

Fun Facts

1) The Chicken Run models are made from a special blend of plasticine called 'Aardman Mix' which is slightly more durable than ordinary plasticine.

2) There were a total of 563 puppets made, of which 208 were 'A' scale chickens, 79 'B' scale chickens, 48 peddling chickens plus 38 other characters and the rest solid characters.

3) 3500kg of plasticine was used in the production of Chicken Run. A total of 60 different colours jave been used. Each characters colour is individually blended and mixed in a converted chewing gum machine housed at the Aardman studio.

4) Bunty's backside is composed of a staggering 3077 feathers or 'fluffles'. It takes one person a whole day to hand paint in the tips.

5) Each character gets through an astounding number of replacement body parts during the production of a full-length feature.
