Synopsis

"A loved story."

Celeste (Rashida Jones) and Jesse (Andy Samberg) met in high school, married young but are growing apart. Celeste, now 30, is the ambitious owner of her own media consulting firm. By contrast, Jesse is once again unemployed and in no particular hurry to decide what to do with his life.

Celeste has convinced herself that divorcing Jesse is the right step to take. While she is on her way up, he is going nowhere. If they do it now instead of later, they can remain supportive friends. Jesse is still in love with Celeste but passively accepts his wife's decision.

As the reality of their separation sets in, Celeste painfully begins to realise that her cavalier attitude about their relationship, now seems impulsive and selfish. As the turbulent changes in their lives and in their hearts is played out, Celeste and Jesse learn that in order to truly love someone, you may have to let them go.
