Synopsis

CAMP is the dramatic, hilarious and show-stopping story about a group of extraordinary kids growing up and discovering who they really are.

Back at home, the kids of Camp Ovation, a performing arts summer camp, are the outcasts and misfits - picked on and ridiculed. Vlad is supposedly the all American golden boy but he'll do anything to be liked. Michael is beaten up when he tries to attend his junior prom in drag. Ellen is so unpopular she has to beg her brother to take her to her junior prom. Fritzi is a tough, ambitious little groupie not to be crossed. Jenna is shy and overweight and has had her jaw wired shut by her insensitive parents. Jill is a sexy pneumatic blond who hides behind her brazen sexuality and Dee has set out to prove that she's not destined for a life of fag hagdom.

But once these kids are on the bus on their way to Camp Ovation, paradise feels right around the corner. As the hard work begins - they have to rehearse and perform a new show every two weeks - the drama doesn't just take place on stage. Relationships are formed, talent is tested and hearts are broken and all in an 8 week period. This trip, their fragile egos are entrusted to a guest director Bert Hanley (Don Dixon). Bert had a Broadway smash ten years ago, but hard times have turned him into a cynical alcoholic.

In the best tradition of all film musicals, CAMP has an irrepressible spirit that is not only uplifting but contagious to anyone within earshot. Crammed full of ambitious production numbers and touching real life moments, CAMP is a comedic call for acceptance in a world where normal is no longer the norm.
