Synopsis

CAFFEINE features an all-star cast of Brits and Americans including Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Marsha Thomason (Lost, Las Vegas), Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy, Roswell), Andrew Lee Potts (Primeval), Sonya Walger (Lost, Sleeper Cell) and Callum Blue (Dead Like Me, As If...).

Londoner Dean Craig's screenplay - at once very knowing, piercing and truthful is filled with realistic, witty dialogue and appealing, yet very quirky characters.

From its seemingly calm, ordinary beginning, CAFFEINE deftly interweaves 5 stories in real time that soon take surprising, outlandish twists and turns.

CAFFEINE looks at relationships after the infatuation period has ended, when well-concealed secrets come out, and both sides are confronted with who their partner really is...not perfect, not a romanticised ideal, in some ways, less than admirable. Caffeine's characters are faced with the questions: do I really want to commit, can I forgive? Or do I want to cut my losses and run?

During lunchtime at an offbeat London coffee house, the relationships of the quirky staff and patrons are suddenly turned upside down by revelations of supremely embarrassing secrets and idiosyncrasies, generally having to do with their rampaging sexual appetites.

A neurotic young commitment-phobe runs into his ex-girlfriend while he's whacked out on killer dope. A high-strung control freak finds out that her husband-to-be is a transvestite and a shy, hesitant young woman suffers the blind-date-from hell - an obnoxious boor who has been told she sleeps with men on the first date. A hyper-possessive boyfriend discovers that his girlfriend is an ex-porn actress and the manager's boyfriend has a menage a trois, which he says is forgivable because the girls were identical twins.

As the craziness builds to chaotic conclusions, CAFFEINE interweaves these characters' hapless attempts to repair their fractured relationships while they are forced to confront issues of fidelity, betrayal, commitment and forgiveness.
