Synopsis

THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS is a fictional story told through the eves of an eight year-old boy largely shielded from the reality of World War II. This unforgettable tale follows a forbidden friendship that forms between Bruno, the son of a Nazi commandant, and Shmuel, a Jewish boy held captive in a concentration camp. Though the two are separated physically by a barbed-wire fence, their friendship grows and their lives become inescapably intertwined.

THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS is adapted from John Boyne's best-selling novel of the same name. It is directed by Mark Herman, (BRASSED OFF and LITTLE VOICE) and produced by David Heyman (HARRY POTTER). The all star cast includes David Thewlis (HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX) Vera Farmiga (THE DEPARTED) and Rupert Friend (PRIDE AND PREJUDICE), as well as introducing Asa Butterfield as Bruno and Jack Scalon as Shmuel.
