Synopsis

Set in the 1890s, Georges Duroy is an audacious man, who rises from a cockroach ridden existence to opulent salons by using his wits and powers of seduction.

Leaving poverty behind, he begins to make his money from passionate trysts with wealthy beauties, in a world where politics and media jostle for influence. He learns that sex is power and celebrity an obsession.
