Synopsis
"Bui doi" is a slur directed at Vietnamese children with American fathers.
Set in 1990, THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY is a powerful tale of young Vietnamese boy's emigration. Binh (Damien Nguyen) is a shy Vietnamese man in his twenties who escapes Vietnam and embarks on a personal journey with a young beautiful woman, Ling aboard a refugee ship to America in search of a better life and Binh's estranged American father.
Enduring a period in a refugee camp, surviving a terrifying ocean crossing and indentured servitude with a human trafficking ring, Binh never loses sight of his goal in search of his long lost family in America.
