Synopsis

From the writer and producer of the critically acclaimed, international box office sensation DOWNFALL comes the intense dramatisation of one the most astonishing episodes in German twentieth century history.

German Film Award-winner Uli Edel directs THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX, a gripping thriller based on Stefan Aust's non-fiction bestseller, which follows the lives of the radicalised children of the post-war generation.

Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof and Gudrun Ensslin are the leaders of the Red Army Faction (RAF), urban guerrillas fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism. Ruthlessly brutal in the pursuit of their ideals, they are responsible for bombings, robberies, kidnappings and assassinations and will stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

The one man who understands them is also their hunter: the head of the German police force, Horst Herold. But Herold also knows that whatever the outcome of his relentless pursuit of the young terrorists, they represent only the tip of the iceberg.

THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX has recently been selected as Germany's candidate for the 2009 foreign-language film Oscar.

THE BAADER MEINHOF COMPLEX stars Martina Gedeck (THE LIVES OF OTHERS, THE GOOD SHEPHERD) as Ulrike Meinhof; Moritz Bleibtreu (THE WALKER, MUNICH) as Andreas Baader; Johanna Wokalek (NORTH FACE) as Gudrun Ensslin and Bruno Ganz (DOWNFALL, THE READER) as Horst Herold, the relentless policeman on the hunt for the deadly trio.
