Synopsis

A stark and powerful masterpiece, THE ASSASSINATION OF RICHARD NIXON tells the story of one man's frustration amid Nixon-era malaise, Niels Mueller's directorial debut recalls seminal seventies films such as TAXI DRIVER and THE CONVERSATION. Mueller and co-screenwriter Kevin Kennedy meticulously depict the disintegration of Samuel Bicke (Sean Penn), a disillusioned salesman, an average joe, whose very problem is that he cannot achieve much statue or respect in the various arenas where men are asked to prove themselves. Considered a failure both at home and in the workplace, this ordinary man finds himself forced to take extraordinary measures to make his presence felt.

A chilling drama that explores and exposes the dark side of the American Dream, THE ASSASSINATION OF RICHARD NIXON focuses on the prescient and tragic true story of Sam Bicke (Sean Penn), a disillusioned 'everyman' who, in 1974, was driven to plot the assassination of the 37th President of the United States

THE ASSASSINATION OF RICHARD NIXON boasts a supporting cast headed by Academy Award nominees Naomi Watts and Don Cheadle and noted Australian actor Jack Thompson. Co-written and directed by Niels Mueller in his feature debut.
