Anna Taylor (Christina Ricci) has recently died after a horrific road accident, and is lying in a local funeral parlour where Eliot Dean (Liam Neeson) is preparing her body for burial. Imagine her confusion and fear when Eliot tells her she's dead and merely in a state of transition on route to the afterlife.

Anna is terrified and disbelieving because she feels very much alive but Eliot reassures her and attempts to persuade her to accept her own death.

Trapped inside the building, Anna has to face her fear of passing over to the afterlife as Eliot steadily convinces her that he can communicate with the dead and her only hope.

Grieving boyfriend, Paul (Justin Long), instinctively distrusts Eliot, why he doesn't know but he strongly feels he's not what he appears to be. As Anna's funeral draws near, Paul gets closer to unlocking a disturbing truth. But time is running out for Anna...
