Synopsis
Miramax HAL Films, BBC Films and the Irish Film Board present ABOUT ADAM, a smart, sexy and sophisticated new spin on the merry-go-round of true romance in modern-day Ireland.
On a typical night in Dublin, Lucy Owens (Kate Hudson) is going about her usual routine of singing torch songs in a trendy Dublin restaurant, waiting tables and pondering her rotten luck in love. Then, while she's mid-song and mid-thought on her latest romantic misfire, a handsome stranger wanders in and marches straight into her heart. Finally, after a never-ending string of short-term boyfriends, Lucy has found someone she can love for more than three weeks, handsome, charming, lovable and entirely unpredictable Adam (Stuart Townsend).
As their romance heats up, it's no time before Adam's charm has conquered the affections of Lucy's entire family, including her two sisters Laura (Frances O'Connor, MANSFIELD PARK) and Alice (Charlotte Bradley) and mother Peggy (Rosaleen Linehan). Even their young brother David (Alan Maher) is mesmerized. But as Adam keeps turning up in the most unexpected and unusual ways, the whole family begins to suspect there's more ABOUT ADAM than meets the eye.
Is Paradise about to be lost, or can the Owens family live happily ever after? One thing is certain: in this contemporary comedy of errors, they're about to be taken on the ride of their lives as they discover all there is to know about life, about love, and most certainly ABOUT ADAM.
