Review:
Season 9 continues with Volume 4 which contains the episodes IRRESPONSIBLE, TAO OF RODNEY, THE GAME and THE ARK. The disc also includes special features Mission Directive: "The Game" Featuring William Waring and Masters Of The Alien. Once again the Atlantis franchise has come up with a good mix of episodes here, from the smile a minute TAO OF RODNEY to the dark suspense laden THE ARK. The episode IRRESPONSIBLE turned out to be better than the first episode with the Lucius character and THE GAME starts out with some fun but turns into a more serious adventure with a good twist at the end.
IRRESPONSIBLE
Rumours of an invincible hero reach Atlantis so Shepherd and his team go to investigate. They find con-man
Lucius Lavin impressing the locals with his apparent powers which are really powered by an ancient shield device.
TAO OF RODNEY
Rodney is the star of this episode when he steps into a previously unexplored room in Atlantis and tries out an unknown device. The device greatly increases his mental abilities giving him reasoning power way ahead of his time and the ability to read peoples minds.
THE GAME
While searching unexplored parts of Atlantis the Shepherd and Rodney find what they think is an ancient video game room. They play a game against each other but months later find that what they thought was controlling characters in a game is actually controlling the inhabitants of a planet that now thinks of them as gods.
THE ARK
Shepherd and his team find what they think is an unmanned ship in space but upon further investigation find people alive but in suspended animation using Wraith technology. When they wake one of them up they discover that the people are from a civilization that had adapted the technology to keep thousands of their people in stasis until a time when they thought the danger from the Wraith would have passed.
