STAR TREK VOYAGER
Season 4

Star Trek: Voyager is the only Star Trek series whose title sequence remained virtually unchanged throughout its run, however season 4 sees two fundamental casting changes with the departure of Kes (Jennifer Lein) in 'The Gift', and the introduction of the Borg Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) in Scorpion Part 2.

Jeri Ryan turned down the role of Seven of Nine four times and she only finally accepted the part after repeated lobbying by executive producer Jeri Taylor. Her introduction and the increased use of special effect sequences is credited with saving the series as they resulted in a massive revival in ratings.

Season highlights, following Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), include 'The Raven', where Seven of Nine seeks to rejoin the collective; 'Retrospect', where she experiences repressed memories that cause havoc on the ship; and 'One', where Seven of Nine faces her deepest fears - being alone.

In exclusive new interviews with Jeri Ryan included in this DVD box set, Ryan explains how her character is "confused by the complexities of human interaction". Ryan also notes how Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) plays an integral part in Season 4 through her support of Seven of Nine during her turbulent introduction into the crew of the U.S.S Voyager.
