M*A*S*H
Season 5
M*A*S*H's fifth tour of duty represents the show at its most popular and finds the 4077 th operating at peak efficiency in Korea, 1950. The Mobile Army Surgical Hospital unit is now stationed three miles from the frontline, positioned to provide quick care to the troops. Ready with a steady hand and a smile, the gang heals soldiers in both body and soul, offering a touch of home comfort in a foreign land... with hilarious consequences!
Captain Hawkeye (Alan Alda), BJ (Mike Farrell) and Major Margaret Houlihan (Loretta Swift) are all back and the season begins with the doctors and nurses moving camp and performing a very delicate operation in the excellent 'Bug Out' episode. The laughs continue and this fifth series has all the classic comic moments we remember and love with some of the most popular and highly ranked episodes in the show's history.
Written and directed by Alda himself, the episode 'Dear Sigmund' won an Emmy Award and sees weary and depressed Army psychologist Major Sidney Freedman (Allan Arbus) visit the 4077 th and have his pre-conceived notions turned upside down! Other favourites include 'Hanky Panky' when a compassionate BJ consoles a nurse whose marriage has fallen apart, and the hilarious 'Movie Tonight', which sees the camp members bond during a much-interrupted screening of My Darling Clementine!
The fifth season of classic TV show M*A*S*H is a three-disc DVD boxset including all 24 unforgettable and uncut classic comedy episodes.
