ANGEL: season 4

Angel Season 4 really kicks ass with a multitude of exciting events. This season sees both the good Angel and his evil side Angelus at the centre of many dark and mysterious story lines. Along with the usual team, Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter), Lorne (Andy Hallett), Fred (Amy Acker) and Gunn (J August Richards), strange happenings in LA’s underworld also bring a number of guest stars to the show. These include Willow from the Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Alyson Hannigan) and return of the sassy slayer Faith (Eliza Disku).

Following on from Season 3 the first episode begins with Angel still stuck at the bottom of the ocean and with no real leads Fred and Gunn try to find him. Meanwhile, Cordelia is having troubles of her own. Stuck in a higher realm, Cordelia does not return to the hotel until the middle of the series. The visionary demon later finds out that she is pregnant, but who is the father of the baby?

When Angel returns to the gang, he finds his relationship with his teenage son Conner rapidly deteriorating. This is not helped by the increasing closeness between Conner and Cordelia. Angel is distracted from these problems when his soul is stolen and he turns back in to Angelus with murderous consequences…

Joss Whedon’s witty and clever scripts are enriched by the Angel’s most trusted friend, Lorne. This season sees Lorne visit Las Vegas where he is surrounded by other green karaoke singing kings and queens! Whilst Lorne tries to read Angel’s aura to put him back on the right path, the rest of the Angel crew take to the casinos in a truly hilarious episode.

This season sees some fangtastic martial art fighting and tense tales. The 6-disc DVD boxset has superb extras including commentaries from Joss Whedon, David Fury, Andy Hallett, Alexis Denisof and many other members of the Angel team. There are also six featurettes and eleven trailers making this one of the best value DVD boxsets on the shelf!
